Purity Spring Resort and the White Mountain Milers are organizing a fun run/walk in honor of the victims of the bombings at the Boston Marathon. Here are the details:
The event will be at 10 AM on April 27th at King Pine and is open to anyone. It will be free and we will accept donations for the One Fund Boston
This will be a run or a walk, whichever you prefer and will not be timed. This is about celebrating the community of New England and showing support to the people of Boston. All of us in some way are touched by tragedies like this and certainly as runners, we all know someone who has participated in the ultimate of marathons: The Boston Marathon.
The event will consist of approximately a 2.62 kilometer route that starts at Milt’s Place at King Pine Ski Area. For anyone who wishes to run further after the commemorative run, it is a beautiful area with bountiful trails and country roads and we encourage you to take in the area.
For parking, we recommend parking at Milt’s Place or across the street from the main lodge at King Pine. Registration will begin at 9 AM (only for everyone to sign a waiver, there is no cost for the event) with the event taking place at 10. We appreciate the willingness of The Hoyts, Laurie Campbell and King Pine Ski Area for being open to us having this event on such short notice.
We encourage you to wear something that supports the city of Boston- a marathon shirt, a Redsox, Patriots or Bruins shirt or something similar.
Please tell your friends, whether they be runners or just proud residents of New England. This event is welcome to all. This will be a celebration of all that is good in our community so that we may send good vibes to Boston!!
There will be water available at the event and possibly some post-event refreshments. A special thanks to Dave Sartory for providing us with a Sound System and lots of Boston-based music.
NOTES ON USE OF FACILITIES: The main lodge at King Pine is being used for another event that day. The facilities at Milt’s Place will be available for us for registration, bathrooms, etc.
VOLUNTEERS: We do need a few volunteers to assist with the event. If you would be willing to help out, please contact Paul Kirsch at email@example.com or 603-398-1852.
DIRECTIONS: To get to King Pine from Conway, take Route 153 approximately 9.5 miles from the lights in Conway. Milt’s Place is the very first building on your right at the ski area before the main parking lot.
