The Most Unique Snowboard-only Event in the Region!
Sunday, March 10, 2013 marks the 13th celebration of the Marky B Boardfest, a “one-of-a-kind” memorial race for Mark Bierweiler, son of Chip and Barb, long-time employees of King Pine Ski Area and Purity Spring Resort.
Proceeds from this annual event enrich current snowboard programs at King Pine and makes the sport more available for children in the community who may otherwise not be able to participate. The Boardfest also supports the training and advancement of the Adaptive Sports program at King Pine.
“Local business owners have generously donated their goods and services. These are contributions that we appreciate so much because they help ensure the success of this very special event”, says Chip Bierweiler. His wife Barb echoes his sentiments: “It’s a community effort and it feels good to get everyone together, volunteering, racing, anything, we’re just happy everyone is here, and having fun.” The Bierweiler’s thank the many sponsors of the event including Ten80 Boardsports, Ski Works, Ski & Snowboard Liquidation, and the Flatbread Company.
Included in the $45 registration fee is a lift ticket, lunch voucher, one raffle ticket and race fees. For King Pine season passholders, registration is only $25. Additional raffle tickets may be purchased for chances to win restaurant gift certificates, goggles, helmets, snowboards and much more.
Race day registration begins at the King Pine base lodge at 8:00 A.M. and racing begins at 9:30 A.M. The race format is the best combined time of 2 out of 3 runs through a unique slalom course with rolls, hits and jumps!
