KING PINE SKIERS & RIDERS DONATE TO HAITI

East Madison, NH – The 7.0-magnitude earthquake, which hit Haiti Tuesday, January 12, left the country in major distress and many relief organizations stepped up offering aid and supplies. Many Americans felt helpless and were left wondering how they could help.

King Pine’s generous skiers and riders, visiting during and following the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend in January, donated over $2,000 to Haiti relief. Contributions were made while purchasing lift tickets or in donation jars placed around the resort.

The Hoyt Family, owners and operators of Purity Spring Resort, matched and forwarded all proceeds to the Partners With Haiti organization through the Madison Baptist Church. The Madison Baptist Church Reverend, Sean Dunker-Bendigo, is on the board of directors with the Rhode Island-based, 29-year-old non-profit organization. More information about the non-profit can be found at www.PartnersWithHaiti.org.

Bob Hoyt, Purity Spring Resort President and King Pine Ski Area General Manager, said, “We chose to donate to Partners With Haiti because many locals are involved with this organization and 100% of our donated funds went towards relief aid in Haiti, which we felt was how our customers would like their donations distributed.” Bob continued to point out that, “So many people wanted to do something, but didn’t know how or where to start. We provided a place for people to make a monetary donation and we felt that it was the right thing to do by matching 100% of every dollar received.”

King Pine’s very generous guests raised over $2,000 and the Hoyt Family matched $2,000, totaling $4,264 donated to Partners With Haiti.

The mountain will continue to accept cash or check donations made out to “Partners With Haiti” and will forward collections to the Madison Church. You do not need to purchase a lift ticket to donate to the organization. King Pine, Purity Spring and the Hoyt Family thank all who have donated.

King Pine and Purity Spring Resort, located on Route 153 in East Madison, NH, are owned and operated by The Hoyt Family and have welcomed guests since the early 1900’s. Additional information can be found by calling (800) 373-3754.

LONGEST RUNNING SKI CAMP IN THE COUNTRY ADDS A SECOND WEEK

East Madison, NH (February 4, 2010) – King Pine Ski Area at Purity Spring Resort will offer its 72nd Ski and Snowboard Camp this February 2010 for boys and girls.

The Ski & Snowboard Camp offers an exciting atmosphere for “ski campers” age 8-16 and provides the opportunity to learn to ski or ride in a safe and family-friendly atmosphere. Held during the February President’s Day vacation week, February 15-21, the camp continues a tradition that began long ago at Purity Spring Resort. New this year is an added second week of camp for boys and girls running February 21-26. The addition of a second week of camp allows children from across New England the opportunity to attend during different school vacation weeks.

In 1938, owner of Purity Spring, Edward Milton Hoyt, installed a rope tow near Bald Ledge on the resort property. The next Christmas, “Milt” invited a small group of students to the Inn during the vacation break to experience the relatively new sport of skiing. A new tradition began and continues today with over 100 campers annually.

The Ski & Snowboard Camp staff is a mixture of college students and parents, interested in providing the campers with a fun week of learning and activities. Year after year, campers travel from all over New England and as far south as North Carolina to enjoy camp. They come to ski, board, skate, swim, tube, dance, laugh and learn together.

On the slopes, campers are split into ski and snowboard classes based upon ability, ranging from beginner to advanced. Classes are held twice daily and are geared towards success, with safety always in mind. With 100% of the mountain open and outstanding snow conditions, King Pine has variety of terrain to satisfy all levels of confidence and every particular whim.

Additional information can be found here or by calling (800) 373-3754 x110.

King Pine and Purity Spring Resort, located on Route 153 in East Madison, NH, are owned and operated by the Hoyt family and have welcomed guests since the early 1900s.
